Self Care

‘You can’t take care of anyone unless you take care of yourself first.’  How many times have we as moms heard that and continued on our normal routine.  Well I am here to tell you to STOP and LOVE YOURSELF!!

This single piece of advice has been the biggest change in my life.  My partnership, my health, & my career have all benefited from this change.  I did not make this change overnight. I slowly changed my habits to include Self Care.

First, SCHEDULE TIME FOR YOURSELF.  This means literally block this time out on your calendar.  If it is on your calendar you are  more likely to accomplish it when you say you will.

Second, always be ready with an answer to the best question you will get asked.  “What do you want for your birthday/Christmas.”  No one really wants a new vacuum so don’t say, “well we need a new vacuum”.  You want a day at the spa, manicure, gym membership, Saturday alone, or whatever makes you happy.  Ask for what you really want.

Finally, ask for help when there is not enough time in the month for all you need to get done.  You won’t get what you don’t ask for.
